RE-SHAPE Care Research Associate for PPIE and Stakeholder Involvement
Grade 7.3-7.5, 60% FTE, 01 February 2026 to 31 January 2030.
Base pay: £38,784 – £41,064 (pro rata).

This role supports the RESHAPE-CARE programme, a partnership between the University of Sheffield (School of Medicine and Population Health and School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) and Manchester, funded by NIHR and EPSRC. Your work will focus on patient and public involvement (PPIE) and stakeholder engagement for the redesign of care for people with multiple long‑term conditions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the PPIE team, working with project investigators, 6 Community Health Research Link Workers (CHRLWs), and patient and stakeholder communities.
- Design and deliver stakeholder involvement activities, ensuring representation of underserved and under‑represented groups.
- Support and manage the CHRLWs, providing training, supervision and secretarial support.
- Co‑produce research outputs with community partners and contribute to project meetings and publications.
- Travel to Manchester, Sheffield and South Yorkshire clinical sites and community meetings as required.
- Collaborate with the wider RESHAPE‑CARE research team, including academic and PPI co‑investigators.
- PhD (or equivalent), health research or related discipline.
- Substantial experience working with patients and the public, especially diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement, co‑production, and public involvement in research or innovation.
- Understanding of research governance, ethics approval processes.
- Strong communication skills: meeting facilitation, presentations, one‑to‑one communication.
- Excellent writing skills: academic papers, reports.
- Commitment to representing people with long‑term health conditions in research.
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines.
- Experience with underserved groups and diversity.
