As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a skilled Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join our friendly, professional team.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining air conditioning and refrigeration systems, air handling units and chillers across a variety of commercial environments – including offices, nursing homes, schools, and manufacturing facilities.
As this is a field-based role, you’ll be required to travel throughout the UK and work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities- Carry out routine maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently and effectively.
- Install and commission new equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service on-site and represent Mattair professionally.
- Complete job sheets, reports, and compliance documentation accurately and promptly.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including splits, VRF/VRV, air handling units, and chillers.
- Excellent fault-finding and practical engineering skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally at all times.
- Ability to complete electronic paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, including willingness to work overtime when required.
- F-Gas certification (Category
1) and DBS clearance (to be arranged by us if necessary). - Full UK driving licence.
- Competitive salary (based on experience) – including door-to door travel pay
- Overtime opportunities – Time and a Half after 40 Hours
- Enhanced Rates – Double time for nights and Sundays (rarely required)
