The client

Our client is a UK-based engineering, installation and construction organisation specialising in bespoke bulk materials handling systems and full process plant solutions. Their expertise covers the full project lifecycle – from initial design engineering, and technical consultation through to EPCM/EPC contracts, construction, installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance.

They deliver solutions for clients across mining, cement, aggregates, food, alternative fuels, biomass, steel, infrastructure, and ports, both in the UK and internationally.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with decades of experience and play a key role in delivering and the completion of a large, complex project.

The role
Heavy engineering installations - plan and execute the lifting, moving, and positioning of massive industrial equipment and structural parts.

Site Rigger - Key responsibilities

* Determine the weight, shape, and centre of gravity of heavy items before moving them

* Review lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments to map out the safest route for the load

* Choose the correct type and size of slings, shackles, and chains required for the specific lift

* Check all cables, pulleys, and hooks for wear or damage before every use

* Attach pulleys, hoists, and beams to overhead structures using strong clamps and bolts

* Build, erect, and level heavy static machinery, structural steel, or crane equipment on site

* Tie knots and attach slings correctly so the load is balanced and cannot slip

* Use signals or radios to direct crane operators to move suspended loads smoothly

* Guide heavy loads through tight spaces using winches and chain blocks

* Follow all site health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe working practices.

* Support other site activities as directed by supervisor

Skills and experience

* NVQ L3 in lifting operations / NPORS / ECITB Erecting & rigging

* CSCS card

* Experience of working at heights / LOLER regs etc

* Previous experience in heavy engineering construction, or industrial site installation preferred

* Good attention to detail.

* Physically fit and able to work in a demanding site environment.

* Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team.

Working conditions

* Site-based industrial environment

* May involve manual handling, dust, noise, sparks

* Working at pace to meet installation deadlines

* PPE required at all times
