HGV Technician

HGV Mechanic  DAF Trained   South Yorkshire | Up to £60,000 DOE | Permanent
Shift Pattern   Monday  Friday: 7:00am  5:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am  12:00pm on a rota basis
Our client, a well-established and highly regarded waste management business in South Yorkshire, is looking for an  experienced HGV Mechanic  to join their busy workshop team on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have strong  DAF experience and training , together with a solid background in the maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy commercial vehicles.

The Role  As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of a varied commercial vehicle fleet, including:
DAF skip trucks
Roll-on/roll-off vehicles
Grab vehicles
Tippers
Artic units
Walking-floor vehicles
Company vans

Key Responsibilities   Maintaining and repairing the company's HGV and commercial vehicle fleet
Preparing vehicles for MOT and presenting them for test
Using diagnostic equipment to identify and repair faults
Attending vehicle breakdowns as required
Replacing wheels and carrying out re-torquing
Carrying out vehicle inspections in line with Operator Licence requirements
Completing running repairs and preventative maintenance
Completing all relevant paperwork and job cards
Working effectively as part of a busy workshop team
Supporting colleagues and assisting in other areas of the business when required
About You  The successful candidate will ideally have:
Minimum  2 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic
DAF training and/or experience
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Experience working on a range of HGVs and commercial vehicles
Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair
A reliable, professional and team-focused approach
Qualifications & Licences    NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent  preferred
