Pine Media is a Sheffield-based full‑fibre ISP. We build and run our own FTTP network, using Openreach ducts and poles alongside our own infrastructure, and we serve homes and businesses across South Yorkshire.
The roleWe're looking for an experienced L2C engineer to join our Service Delivery team. This role suits someone who can take a day's work, plan it, get it done to a high standard and close it off properly without being chased.
You’ll be the person our customers meet at the most important point of their order: the install. How you turn up, communicate and leave their home is how they judge us. We need someone calm, reliable and professional who takes pride in doing the job right first time, every time.
Our network uses connectorised block terminals (CBTs), so there's no splicing at height or in chambers. Splicing happens only inside the customer splice point (CSP) at the premises.
What you’ll do- Install overhead and underground drops from the CBT to an external CSP
- Run internal cable from the CSP to the customer's chosen ONT location
- Splice the drop to the internal cable inside the CSP, and test at each stage
- Follow Openreach labelling requirements at entry and exit points, and photograph your work for job records
- Manage your own daily workload, keep to appointment times, and flag issues early, before they become problems
- Look after your van and tools in line with our vehicle policy
- From time to time, support our Fibre Network Delivery (FND) team with overhead cabling, CBT installs and new fibre in MDUs and across the outside plant network
You’ll be someone who:
- Works independently and owns their work from start to finish
- Is consistent: the standard on your last job of the day matches your first
- Is careful with details, from cable routing and labelling to paperwork
- Treats customers' homes with respect and represents us well
- Puts health and safety first, with sound risk assessment and hazard awareness
- Communicates clearly with customers, colleagues and managers
- Looks for better ways of working and suggests them
- At least two years’ experience in a similar L2C role
- Full UK driving licence, held for at least 12 months
- Physically fit for manual handling work
- Fusion splicing experience
- Experience working on the Openreach network
- Full-time, permanent
- Monday to Friday
- Field-based, with all work within an hour of Sheffield
- Van, fuel card and full tool kit
- 28 days’ holiday, rising to 32 after six months
- Company pension
- Company sick pay*
- Home broadband*
- Cycle to work scheme*
* After six months' service
Our valuesIntegrity, passion, development, continual improvement, proactivity, teamwork and quality. We hire people who already work this way.
