Position: (Seasonal) Boat Rental Recreation Attendant

Pay Rate

PAY RATE: $13.75 per hour (up to 600 hours per year or 120 days per season).

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Additionally, eligible seasonal employees will receive a $0.60 per hour seasonal bonus for all hours worked. For details, .

General Statement of Duties

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Work activities in this position primarily involve the operation and general maintenance of the boat rental facility and adjacent beach facility. Must be available for most weekend and holiday dates.

Availability

AVAILABILITY: Work season begins in Mid May through Labor Day. Holiday and weekend availability is important in hiring consideration. Preferred applicants must especially be available to work between August 15, 2026 and Labor Day to receive consideration.

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned.

  • Sets up equipment for rental; inspect for broken, damaged or worn parts; make minor adjustments and repairs; take apart and properly store for the night; wash boats weekly.
  • Distributes and collects boat rental equipment.
  • Frequent physical handling of all boat types.
  • Frequent sterilization of boats, life jackets, paddles and job sites.
  • Be able to instruct the public on the proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Aid in proper sizing and donning of life jackets.
  • Ensures rental agreements are written up properly and money counted and collected properly.
  • Ability to operate a point of sale system.
  • Monitors park visitors to ensure order and safety.
  • Cleans buildings and restrooms daily or more often as needed.
  • Cares for surrounding lawn and walkways, keeps grounds litter free.
  • Maintains established park rules and regulations.
  • Assists in preparation of daily receipt of reports.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
  • May operate pontoon boat to assist watercraft users.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age prior to starting date.
  • Ability to positively interact with co-workers, supervisors and park visitors.
  • Ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  • Ability to perform cash and credit transactions quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work varied hours depending upon park demands.
  • Physical demands are usually moderate. Will often be working along a seawall near water.
  • Have obtained a boater safety credential, or ability to be trained in boater safety upon hire.
General Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to load, unload and move materials from one location to another.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
