Responsibilities
Work is performed under the direction of the Day Camp Assistant Directors and Directors. Counselors are responsible for maintaining the safety and entertainment of campers by ensuring they are properly cared for and engaged with during daily activities. Camp Counselors are required to entertain children and bring fun and excitement to their time at summer camp; to ensure safety as their number one priority;
to maintain excellent communication skills; to convey camp procedures to parents and campers; to maintain a positive and professional attitude towards co-workers, participants, parents, and supervisors; to participate in pool time each day; to maintain organization and cleanliness in classrooms and activity spaces.
High School diploma or GED preferred; experience working with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must attend mandatory seasonal orientation and participate in CPR/First Aid Training.
Ability to brainstorm and organize creative activities and games for the campers to participate in, ability to act quickly and effectively in the case of emergency, ability to effectively communicate and maintain order within small groups, ability to be a team player and when needed: the team leader, ability to maintain professional relationships with campers while mentoring them, ability to swim, be knowledge about pool safety.

Physical DemandsThis work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, grasping, feeling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and to communicate instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly by means of the spoken work. Hearing detailed information through oral communication and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small objects and observing general surroundings and activities;
the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions such as extreme heat.
