Job Title
- Fire/Rescue Training Faculty

The instructional responsibilities will include 352 hours in the spring semester, 352 hours in the fall semester, and 220 hours in the summer semester. Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations and meet the needs of the discipline, department, division, and College. Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, incorporates appropriate content and andragogy, and is relevant to current events/trends.

Build and maintain connections with local fire departments and industrial emergency response teams to confirm that the classes address their training requirements. As needed, teach classes online, on-campus, and/or at off-campus sites while maintaining appropriate accessibility and posted office hours for students. Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback. Maintain regular, appropriate, professional communication with students, within the college, and with affiliated industry contacts.

Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning. Ensure cleanliness and proper operation of instructional areas and laboratory/classroom equipment, reporting any malfunctions, and providing quality experiences in these settings. Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audiovisual aids, support, and equipment needs. Develop and distribute course syllabi according to the established template and guidelines, providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations, evaluation criteria, and access to student support services.

Participate in recruiting new students and/or developing new programs. Maintain a working relationship with advisory board members and employers. Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting all deadlines, checking for accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data. Remain current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development activities offered by the College and other opportunities including attendance at off-campus activities, webinars, etc.,

as approved. Participate in program and curriculum review. Actively contribute to college committees, participate in campus activities, and attend discipline, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings. Support all functions of the College, including compliance with all facets of the College's academic policies. Performs other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications

- Required Qualifications Associates of Science Degree in Fire Protection Technology or related field. NCOSFMcertified Fire Instructor 2 with instructional qualifications in Firefighter 2 and Testing Proctor. NCOSFMcertified Fire Officer 2. Ten years of experience as a firefighter. Five years of experience as a Fire Instructor. Competent computer and software system operational skills. Committed to creating a strong culture of customer service.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership and management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the College community. Must be able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work effectively and collegially with others. Skilled in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology. Experience with current version of MS Office or similar programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills Provide exceptional customer service with people internal and external to the institution. Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college. Flexible and adapts to change.

Ability to multi-task with multiple departments and activities of others.

Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred:
Five years of experience as a Fire Officer. NCOSFMQualified Live Fire Instructor or ability to obtain in 1 year. NCOSFMqualifications in Emergency Vehicle Driver, Hazardous Materials Operations, or other pertinent qualifications.

Salary Range
- Based on experience and education level.
