Schedule: Monday - Friday | 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Solid Works | Tool Design | Fixture Design | Machine Design | Automotive Manufacturing

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical CAD & Tooling Designer with strong Solid Works experience to join our growing team.

This position will support the design and development of tooling, fixtures, molds, machine components, and manufacturing equipment used within automotive and industrial manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong CAD skills and experience creating production-ready drawings and 3D models using Solid Works.

We can teach our specific technology, products, and processes. However, candidates must already be comfortable using Solid Works and capable of producing accurate models, assemblies, and detailed release drawings with minimal supervision.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level to mid-level designer looking to grow their career in tooling and manufacturing design.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Design & Documentation
  • Create and modify 3D models using Solid Works.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing, assembly, and release drawings.
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
  • Process engineering revisions and drawing changes.
  • Maintain drawing and revision control records.
  • Support engineering documentation and project files.
Tooling & Equipment Design Support
  • Assist with the design of:
    • Tooling
    • Fixtures
    • Molds
    • Machine components
    • Manufacturing aids
  • Support machine layouts and equipment integration projects.
  • Participate in design reviews and project meetings.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturing and customer requirements.
  • Assist with prototype and production development activities.
Engineering Change Support
  • Update existing CAD models and drawings.
  • Process engineering change requests and drawing revisions.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and revision history.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through design updates and modifications.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Project teams.
  • Support shop personnel with drawing interpretation and design clarification.
  • Participate in problem-solving and process improvement activities.
  • Help ensure projects remain on schedule and meet customer expectations.
Qualifications

Required
  • Minimum 2-5 years of Solid Works experience.
  • Strong proficiency creating:
    • 3D models
    • Assemblies
    • Detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Experience creating production-ready release drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Tool design experience.
  • Fixture design experience.
  • Mold design experience.
  • Machine design experience.
  • Experience with 3D surfacing.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with GD&T.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training, certificate programs, CAD coursework, or related experience preferred.
  • Degree not required.
