SAPA Transmission is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our supply chain and manufacturing systems for producing advanced transmissions for U.S. Army tracked vehicles. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality standards, optimizing manufacturing costs, and managing lead times for both current and future prototype transmissions. Your expertise will be crucial in developing efficient processes and maintaining the excellence of our state-of-the-art products.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize the U.S. supply chain to achieve full outsourcing of transmission parts.
- Ensure that all outsourced parts meet stringent quality standards.
- Design and support assembly processes tailored to varying production volumes.
- Document assembly and testing procedures to ensure consistent methods and operator safety.
- Create and maintain precise product bills of material within ERP and PLM systems.
- Collaborate with Quality and Field Service teams to investigate and resolve installation and customer issues.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- High knowledge of reading manufacturing drawings.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing process, tooling, and manufacturing equipment (CNC machines and CMM).
- Basic knowledge of material, heat treatments and coatings.
- Manufacturing experience in gears/splines, manifolds, castings, and prismatic parts.
- Experience working with Unigraphics (Siemens NX) and other CAD programs.
- Proactive attitude towards work, teamwork, and cooperation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customers.
- Availability for limited travel.
