Mechanical Designer

Talent Bridge is partnered with a well-established OEM manufacturer in Shelby, NC, and is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a hands-on role in the design and development of highly engineered equipment. In this role, you'll collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to bring custom machinery concepts to life — from initial design and modeling through to manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical design foundation, CAD proficiency, and thrives in an environment where innovation and precision come together.

This privately held organization has been designing and building state-of-the-art automated equipment for nearly five decades. Known for its innovation, craftsmanship, and integrity, the company designs and manufactures all major components in-house — from mechanical and electrical design through fabrication, machining, and final assembly. Their equipment is trusted by both domestic and international clients and is recognized for its reliability, performance, and custom-engineered quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed mechanical design work using Solid Works (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).
  • Translate customer orders into complete drawing packages, bills of materials, and production orders.
  • Develop equipment layouts, 3D models, part drawings, and assembly diagrams for both new and existing systems.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives to test and improve new designs and technologies.
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to align project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Provide occasional hands-on support in assembly or manufacturing to ensure design accuracy and product quality.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design or drafting.
  • Proficiency with Solid Works 3D and AutoCAD 2D (or comparable CAD software).
  • Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and mechanical design principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and collaborative — with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
