Job Description & How to Apply Below
Machining Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Machining Engineer to design, develop, and optimize machining processes for manufacturing high-precision components. The ideal candidate will focus on improving production efficiency, ensuring part quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves collaborating with design, quality, and production teams to create robust CNC programming, tooling strategies, and process documentation that meet safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize machining processes for turning, milling and other CNC operations to achieve quality, cost and throughput targets.
- Create, review and validate CNC programs (G-code) and post-process outputs; simulate and test programs prior to shop floor implementation.
- Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and work holding to support repeatable and efficient manufacturing.
- Translate engineering drawings and CAD models into manufacturable operations using AutoCAD and CAM software; provide feedback to design engineers for design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Establish process documentation including setup sheets, operation sequences, cycle times, and quality control instructions.
- Perform first-article inspections, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for machining-related issues; work closely with Quality to resolve non-conformances.
- Lead continuous improvement projects (cost reduction, scrap reduction, cycle time improvement) using lean manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.
- Train and support machinists and operators on new processes, programs, and tooling; provide technical support on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with procurement and maintenance to select and maintain machining equipment and tooling inventory.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all machining activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in machining engineering, CNC programming, or manufacturing process development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience working with CAD models; familiarity with CAM software and CNC simulation tools.
- Experience programming CNC machines (G-code) and knowledge of common controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, etc.).
- Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, tolerances and GD&T.
- Experience with tooling and fixture design, setup sheet creation, and first-article inspection processes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, root cause analysis experience, and familiarity with continuous improvement/lean methodologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work cross-functionally with design, production and quality teams.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Full benefits included medical, dental, PTO, 401k and more
