American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center facility in Shelby, NC, requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and night shift availability.
Requirements- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency with tracheostomy care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center hospital
- Patient population includes those not requiring mechanical ventilation: CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illnesses, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, and more
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, with potential for 1:5 depending on acuity
- EMR:

Omnicell; monitors:
Philips - Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and nurses station
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within Region 3, which includes Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)
- Department support includes CNAs for ADLs, a charge nurse available as a resource, phlebotomy services (non-nurse draws), an IV/VAT team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- HUC/receptionist support is available on day shift only
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed must be added to the end of the contract
- Scheduling is done in 6-week cycles
- Navy scrubs required

- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
