American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure on a night shift schedule.

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN staffing ratio of 1:5-6, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shifts ), 36 hours/week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with call back up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, and cardiac monitors
• Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras to assist with medication witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Core Med/Tele skills required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit with strong interdisciplinary support
• Unit culture described as collaborative, patient-centered, and fun-loving
• 2 days of departmental orientation provided in addition to standard new employee orientation (NEO)
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available onsite
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Previous perm employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before eligibility
