Field Sales Agronomist - Shelby, NE

Full Time Sales Shelby, NE, US

Build Relationships. Create Opportunities. Drive Growth.

Central Valley Ag is looking for a Field Sales Agronomist who is motivated to grow business by understanding producers, earning their trust, and helping them move their operations forward.

This is a customer facing sales role. You will strengthen current accounts, earn more of each customer’s business, and develop relationships with producers CVA is not currently serving. You will recommend fertilizer, seed, crop protection, precision agriculture, finance programs, and other solutions that create value for the producer and profitable growth for CVA.

The best Field Sales Agronomists recognize that producers make decisions differently. Some are ready to explore new technology and growth opportunities. Others need time, practical information, and confidence in the people supporting them. Success requires listening, adjusting your approach, making credible recommendations, and consistently following through.

Previous agronomy sales experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are interested in people who bring initiative, curiosity, competitive drive, relationship skills, and a willingness to learn.

What You’ll Do
  • Grow business within the assigned market by strengthening current accounts and developing new customer relationships.
  • Stay actively connected with producers through in personal conversations, phone calls, and timely follow up.
  • Learn each customer’s operation, goals, challenges, and input needs.
  • Adjust communication and recommendations based on each producer’s goals, decision process, and readiness for change.
  • Develop whole farm and customer account plans that identify opportunities to improve producer results and grow CVA’s business.
  • Recommend fertilizer, seed, crop protection, GPS, precision farming technology, finance programs, and other CVA products and services.
  • Explain the agronomic and financial value of recommendations in a practical and credible way.
  • Prepare pricing and proposals, negotiate appropriately, complete contracts, and ask for the business.
  • Forecast customer demand and communicate product and application needs accurately and on time.
  • Stay current on agronomic products, field conditions, industry trends, and emerging challenges.
  • Coordinate with operations, applicators, dispatch, and other CVA team members to deliver on customer commitments.
  • Help coordinate custom application products, equipment, and scheduling.
  • Respond to customer concerns professionally and work with the appropriate team members to resolve problems.
  • Complete required customer records, sales reports, billing procedures, inventory reporting, and account documentation.
  • Follow CVA credit policies and assist with contract and collection responsibilities.
  • Support customer education, product promotions, field scouting, agronomic recommendations, and CVA research and development platform events.
  • Assist with plant operations and other location needs as assigned.
  • Participate in required company training and the agronomy mentoring program.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and represent CVA professionally and ethically.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
