Work is performed under the direction of the aquatics center manager and assistant manager(s). Performs difficult technical and physical work supervising patrons participating in swimming and swim lessons.
Responsibilities- Supervising aquatics center swimming and instructing swim lessons, performing related tasks;
- Performs duties of lifeguard for swim meets, special events, and pool parties;
- Assures the safety of patrons of all ages; administer swim test to those that want to swim in deep water;
- Instructs patrons as relates to aquatics center rules, regulations, and procedures;
- Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the facility;
- Prepares written and oral reports and performs related tasks as required;
- In-service training weekly to keep lifeguard skills sharp.
Previous lifeguarding experience preferred. Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid and Lifeguard certified.
Job RequirementsComplete understanding and ability to follow written departmental policies;
Knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in municipal aquatic center operations;
Knowledge of state and local regulations relating to swimming pools. Ability to direct and supervise patrons of all ages;
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors(s);
Ability to establish and maintain working relationship with city officials, supervisor(s), co-workers, aquatic center patrons and guests, groups, agencies, and the general public. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, work requires swimming, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, grasping, feeling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and to communicate instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly by means of the spoken work.
Opportunity to work swim meets and rental events at the pool. The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions such as extreme heat, noise, hazards, atmosphere condition and chemicals.
