Position Summary
Distribution Machine Operator is responsible for setting‑up, changing over, and operating the Packsize, Automailer and CVP packaging machines. The role ensures the quality and efficiency of the machines and demonstrates ownership in correcting operating issues.
Duties and Responsibilities- Follow all standard work, including safety standards.
- Follow all company policies and general plant rules (GPRs) as outlined in the handbook.
- Maintain and monitor machines to ensure proper functioning.
- Understand each machine’s mechanical and system set‑up; adjust machines as needed for changeovers, different functions, or varying needs.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance and recognize potential issues to avoid downtime.
- Verify completeness of carton contents and ensure cartons/bags meet quality standards.
- Arrange carton contents efficiently to minimize shipping costs.
- Maintain and track machine output by hour.
- Train new operators on machine operations and responsibilities.
- Conduct daily 5S activities such as organization, safety, housekeeping, and ensuring adequate materials and supplies are available.
- Work assigned overtime when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of safe machine practices.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Physical agility, technical ability, and spatial understanding.
- Coordination and ability to keep up with machines.
- Aptitude to operate machine controls and solid PC skills to utilize software effectively.
- Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
- Self‑motivated and desire to achieve a high level of success.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work, contribute, and succeed in a team environment.
- Capacity to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to personal development and willingness to take required training or attend schooling.
Must be able to work in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
