JAG Healthcare Shelby is currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Director of Nursing (DON) to join our leadership team. JAG Healthcare Shelby is a welcoming 45-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility known for its family-oriented atmosphere and commitment to person-centered care. Our residents include individuals requiring skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, as well as those living with mild behavioral health needs and memory care diagnoses
. Our smaller size allows leadership to build strong relationships with residents, families, and staff while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the nursing department. We are seeking a Director of Nursing who will complement our exceptional leadership team and continue driving quality care, staff development, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

(include but are not limited to):

  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate all nursing services within the facility
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the nursing team through education, coaching, and ongoing staff development
  • Promote a culture of person-centered care, teamwork, accountability, and continuous quality improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care
  • Oversee clinical operations, staffing, scheduling, and nursing department performance
  • Monitor Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and implement action plans as needed
  • Participate in state survey preparation, complaint investigations, and plans of correction
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure exceptional resident outcomes
  • Ensure resident rights, dignity, privacy, and safety are consistently maintained
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, hospitals, and community partners
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and support employee engagement and retention
  • Encourage continuous education, professional development, and leadership growth within the nursing department
Skills & Qualifications
  • Current Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing required
  • Previous Director of Nursing experience preferred; experienced nurse leaders with demonstrated leadership success are encouraged to apply
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or a related healthcare setting preferred
  • Experience caring for residents with memory care and mild behavioral health needs is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, CMS regulations, reimbursement, and long-term care operations
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
  • Infection Preventionist training or willingness to obtain certification
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build relationships, inspire teams, and lead by example
