Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a Maintenance Manager direct hire position in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Responsibilities- Provide strong day-to-day leadership to the Maintenance team, setting expectations, driving consistent follow-up, and holding team members accountable for performance.
- Act as a change agent within a tenured workforce, confidently challenging the status quo and driving operational improvements.
- Lead a hands-on maintenance operation, including running reports, tracking KPIs, and ensuring accountability across the department.
- Partner with a peer Maintenance Manager to support plant-wide operations and coordinate shift coverage as needed.
- Oversee maintenance support for manufacturing equipment and address personnel-related matters within the department.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, housekeeping procedures, and plant policies.
- Monitor and reduce production downtime by implementing goals and leveraging continuous improvement and Kaizen principles.
- Develop, manage, and maintain the department budget.
- Evaluate maintenance issues proactively, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Generate, analyze, and report departmental KPIs and performance metrics to leadership.
- Complete required reporting accurately and on time.
- Attend and actively participate in required operational and leadership meetings.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability.
- Provide hands-on maintenance support when necessary, including working directly on equipment.
- Support maintenance needs for a manufacturing environment that includes welding cells and axle production operations.
Skills & Qualifications
- 6–8 years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on experience supporting welding systems (automated, robotic, friction), robotics, heat treating, and machining equipment, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- 3–5+ years of experience in a Supervisor, Team Lead, or Senior Maintenance Technician role, with readiness to step into a management‑level position.
- Proven leadership ability with a track record of motivating, developing, and holding teams accountable to performance standards.
- Experience implementing and supporting Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a direct hire position that pays from $90,000 - $100,000/yr.
