The classroom teacher is responsible for furthering the mission of the Little Light House by leading and managing the classroom and implementing the existing educational curriculum. This involves writing individual student goals and providing learning experiences for the students to which he/she is assigned in the areas of spiritual development, cognitive, receptive and expressive language, fine and gross motor and self-help and social skills, alongside therapist colleagues.
It also involves supervising classroom associates and volunteers in the classroom and performing other duties as assigned. Paperwork and curriculum specific to LLHKY training will be provided.

- Planning and conducting Student Information Profile (SIP) meetings for each child on an annual basis.
- Implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities related to Growth Report (GR) goals.
- Develop daily lesson plans using Head to Toe Heart and Soul, Little Light House Curriculum as the foundational classroom curriculum in which activities are built around.
- Design and develop learning programs, implementing appropriate classroom curriculum activities utilizing the Bible Based Curriculum as outlined in weekly lesson plans that correlate to Growth Report goals for each student meeting their spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs.
- Use various teaching methods to promote learning, including intensive individualized instruction, small group work and individualized large group work.
- Develop and implement GIFT (Guide to Individually Focused Teaching) system for the classroom.
- Implementation of appropriate behavior management techniques. Inform supervisor of any special situations/concerns.
- Complete initial Student Growth Indicators (SGI) for all new students within 45 calendar days of their enrollment.
- Complete mid-year updates on Growth Report and on SGI as necessary.
- Complete annual summaries, annual Student Growth Indicator checks and updated progress on Growth Reports for each student annually.
- Maintain communication with parents/caregivers daily documenting any pertinent information.
- Update progress related to the Growth Report outcomes regularly.
- Complete Quarterly Reports at the end of each term with the daily absence slips attached and an annual attendance report at the end of each school year.
- Completes necessary documentation related to performance of those he/she supervises.
- Maintain good positive communication with parents regarding behavior issues.
- Ensure appropriate accommodations and adaptations are in place to ensure maximum participation opportunities are available for each student.
