Facilities Engineer – Contract Logistics
As part of the Contract Logistics team at Kuehne+Nagel, you will design, manage, and optimize solutions that keep goods moving efficiently. Your work ensures that our customers’ products are stored, handled, and delivered with precision, impacting businesses and communities worldwide.
Responsibilities- Manage new building construction, tenant improvement, and up-fit projects by collaborating with Owners, Architects, and General Contractors to ensure specifications and budget are adhered to throughout the project.
- Design warehouse and office CAD layouts based on customer requirements to maximize space utilization, financial considerations, and compliance with NFPA and building code regulations.
- Provide engineering/design support for Sales/Business development, Solutions Engineering, and Operations by offering timely, innovative solutions and recommendations.
- Update the Equipment Pricing file for new business and ongoing operational support.
- Provide Hazardous Materials storage, handling support, and designs that are code compliant by interfacing with the customer, QSHE, fire consultants, and authorities having local jurisdiction.
- Develop facility sub‑project plans and recommendations in support of KN/Customer objectives and implementation timelines; track and report on project status.
- Research, specify, and recommend capital equipment acquisitions (e.g., racking, MHE, furniture, conveyor systems, generators, cold rooms, etc.) and manage the delivery schedule and installation.
- 3 to 5 years of engineering and design experience in a distribution environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products (including Microsoft Project and Visio).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with customers, peers, and senior management.
- Travel up to 50% as needed.
- Ability to create and manage work plans, handle multiple priorities, and work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities and requirements.
Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
