Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role involves setting priorities and providing technical expertise to improve machinery and equipment quality, productivity, and up-time while ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and define machinery and equipment problems to enhance quality, productivity, and production line up-time.
- Re-design, re-engineer, and retrofit machinery and equipment to improve quality and productivity and repair damaged equipment.
- Define and scope projects, create engineering drawings or layouts, write engineering reports, and make cost estimates.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations personnel for retro-fitting and installation of equipment.
- Design and establish Preventative Maintenance Programs to increase equipment up-time.
- Coordinate Predictive and Preventative Maintenance activities and ensure all maintenance work is completed satisfactorily.
- Provide technical expertise and support to Maintenance personnel to reduce costs and avoid downtime.
- Prepare and control work order jobs, secure spare parts, and review work for completion.
- Administer and control the spare parts program to ensure essential parts are available and avoid downtime.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in automotive manufacturing engineering is beneficial.
- Experience in equipment troubleshooting, process improvement, stamping, welding, and molding.
- Ability to effectively communicate and lead projects and people.
Work Environment
The position is located in a tier-one automotive facility owned by a Japanese company. The work environment is casual, often requiring polo shirts while working on the plant floor, but rarely involves getting dirty. There is very little travel required, with most customer and supplier interactions conducted over the phone.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelbyville, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
