About the Role:

The Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and detailing of structural and mechanical components used in aggregate processing systems. This role supports the Engineering Department through structural design, stress analysis, equipment foundations, steel detailing, and hydraulic/mechanical system integration. While a civil/structural background is preferred, mechanical engineers with strong fundamentals in statics, strength of materials, and stress analysis are highly encouraged to apply.

This position contributes to the safe, reliable, and efficient design of custom processing plants and works closely with engineering leadership, project managers, and design teams.

Responsibilities:

Structural & Mechanical Design:

· Perform analysis and design of steel structures, equipment supports, platforms, and foundations for crushers, screens, conveyors, and bulk material handling systems.

· Conduct stress analysis, structural loading calculations, deflection checks, and member sizing using applicable codes and standards.

· Prepare and review detailed 2D/3D models, fabrication drawings, and general arrangement drawings.

· Assist with design of hydraulic systems, power transmission components, and custom mechanical assemblies.

Engineering Analysis:

· Utilize structural and mechanical analysis tools (RISA‑3D, Mathcad, Excel‑based calculations, FEA as applicable).

· Apply knowledge of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and structural mechanics to real‑world equipment and structures.

· Ensure compliance with AISC, ASCE, concrete design standards, and applicable safety factors.

Cross‑Department

Collaboration:

· Work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, and Construction Services to support project schedules and technical requirements.

· Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to verify site conditions, equipment requirements, and design constraints.

Quality & Documentation:

· Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and design documentation.

· Participate in internal design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Assist in maintaining and improving engineering standards, templates, and tools.

Required Qualifications:

· Strong understanding of statics, strength of materials, deformable solids, and structural analysis principles.

· Proficiency in CAD and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, or similar.

· Experience with structural analysis software (RISA‑3D preferred) and/or FEA tools.

· Working knowledge of steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundation/soil interaction (preferred).

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics, and mechanical layouts.

· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

· High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

· FE certification preferred; PE highly preferred (especially for civil/structural track).

· Experience in the aggregate, mining, mechanical systems, or structural steel fabrication industry considered a plus.

Candidate Requirements:

· Occasional travel (5–10%) to job sites may be required.

· Annual industry-standard training provided.

· 2-5 years of experience in structural civil engineering.

Safety & Physical Requirements (ADA-Compliant)

The physical demands and working conditions listed below represent the essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
