Phlebotomist II
Job Location:
Shelbyville, KY 40065
Job Duration: 4 Months+ (possibility of extension)
Shift: Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Position Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company, interacting directly with patients as part of their routine healthcare or during important life-defining health decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures and safety standards.
- The PSR II builds trust and confidence with patients by clearly explaining procedures and performing specimen collection in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. This position demonstrates leadership behaviors, process excellence, and strong attention to confidentiality and patient information accuracy.
- Assignments may include placement in a doctor’s office, Patient Service Center (PSC), or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature after venipuncture to confirm specimens were labeled correctly in their presence.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, health and safety guidelines, and organizational principles.
- Exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
- Travel between multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice.
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Demonstrate superior customer focus and communicate openly and professionally with patients, peers, and leadership.
- Adapt quickly to change and support business needs.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and flexible hours.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple Patient Service Center and in-office locations.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Certification is required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Experience Requirements:
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
