Health & Safety Consultant

Industrial Safety and Training Services (ISTS) is a nationally recognized safety consulting and training company serving more than 400 clients across manufacturing, construction, utilities, state governments, distilleries and many other general industry sites for over 25 years. We are seeking a motivated, self‑driven Health & Safety Consultant who enjoys working directly with clients, solving complex safety challenges, and making a measurable impact. Daily

Job Duties
  • Deliver engaging classroom, virtual, and hands‑on safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Provide professional consulting services related to OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, DOT, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive onsite safety, health, and regulatory compliance assessments.
  • Prepare detailed written reports identifying hazards, compliance gaps, and practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist clients with developing and implementing customized safety policies, programs, procedures, and management systems.
  • Assist organizations with incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate emergency preparedness activities including tabletop exercises, drills, and emergency response planning.
  • Develop technical training materials, presentations, and client‑specific safety documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional customer service and responsive communication.
  • Prepare consulting proposals, scopes of work, and project plans while managing multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the United States as needed (typically 20‑25% overnight travel).
Qualifications
  • Must reside within a 30‑mile radius of the Industrial Safety and Training Services (ISTS) office located in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in occupational safety, environmental health and safety (EHS), safety consulting, risk management, or regulatory compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations with working familiarity of ANSI, NFPA, DOT, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively deliver training and presentations to groups of varying sizes.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 20–25% of the time to customer locations throughout the United States.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre‑employment and annual drug and alcohol screening, physical examination, and full‑face respirator medical evaluation and fit test.
  • Ability to perform field work in industrial environments, including walking, climbing ladders, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and working in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
Preferred Certifications

CSP, ASP, CHMM, CHST, OHST, OSHA Outreach Trainer (Construction and/or General Industry) and/or HAZWOPER Instructor or related emergency response certifications.
