Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician supports plant operations by performing electrical, mechanical, and preventative maintenance tasks that ensure high-quality and efficient production. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, this role works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting timely shipment of products, and collaborating with various teams to resolve problems quickly and safely. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on technical skills, analytical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities- Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and preventative maintenance on production equipment and plant systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, including identifying faults, diagnosing issues, and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Work with industrial and motor controls, including 480-volt and 3-phase electrical systems, to maintain and repair equipment safely and accurately.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, ovens, boilers, air compressors, and other plant equipment to identify potential issues and perform corrective actions.
- Support timely shipment of products by responding quickly to equipment problems and prioritizing repairs based on production needs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and other maintenance team members to resolve technical issues and improve equipment performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and procedures to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned outages.
- Use welding and basic fabrication skills, where applicable, to repair or modify equipment and components.
- Work independently to manage multiple maintenance tasks during the shift, organizing work efficiently and documenting completed activities as required.
- Safely work at heights and in various positions, including kneeling, bending, and twisting, to access equipment and complete repairs.
- Lift and move parts and equipment up to 50 pounds throughout the shift as needed for maintenance activities.
- Adapt to performing different tasks daily, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support changing production and maintenance priorities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation after training, providing support for off-shift or weekend maintenance needs as required.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- At least 3 years of experience with PLC systems, preferably with experience in platforms such as the 5000 series, Siemens, and Omron.
- Demonstrated experience in PLC troubleshooting, including diagnosing and resolving issues with automated equipment.
- Experience with industrial and motor controls, including 480-volt and 3-phase electrical systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Hands-on electrical, mechanical, and preventative maintenance skills in an industrial setting.
- Ability to work at heights safely and effectively when performing maintenance tasks.
- Ability to kneel, bend, twist, and work in various physical positions for extended periods during the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift and participate in an on-call rotation after training.
Skills & Qualifications
- Machine shop and fabrication experience is a significant plus, including basic machining, cutting, and forming of parts.
- Welding experience and the ability to perform basic welding repairs or modifications on equipment.
- Prior experience maintaining ovens, boilers, air compressors, and other heavy industrial equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when performing maintenance tasks and documenting work.
- Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment with varying temperatures.
- Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and changing priorities on a daily basis.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report equipment issues clearly.
