Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations across all locations.
- Supervise the wastewater supervisor and wastewater operators.
- Develop and implement environmental programs, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, FIFRA, Oil Pollution Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other applicable regulations.
- Write compliance plans, track key performance indicators, develop and submit permit applications, and ensure on‑time reporting of all required compliance‑based reports.
- Communicate any non‑compliant issues and provide guidance to location management; maintain relationships with local, state, and federal regulators.
- Lead spill response and waste minimization programs, driving toward zero environmental exceedances.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in natural science, environmental science, or engineering. - Experience:
4+ years in environmental or 2+ years in environmental and successful completion of the Tyson Foods Environmental Trainee program; food production industry experience is a plus. - Computer
Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic compliance database use (e.g., eCAT, Incident Tracker). - Communication
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to communicate with all levels of team members; bilingual skills are a plus. - Special
Skills:
Leadership, interpersonal skills, ability to drive concurrent projects to completion, influence across all levels, teamwork, creative problem‑solving, and project management concepts and techniques.
