Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Ulta Care Medical has an immediate opening for part-time Geri-psych Nurse Practitioner. Under the supervision of a supervising psychiatrist, the Psych NP will provide assessment, diagnosis and management of mental health and psychiatric conditions. This role is focused on optimizing treatment to yield better response, reduced side effects, and improved quality of life.

Anxiety, depression, dementia, grief and loss and a variety of other mental health conditions are prominent challenges in nursing home populations and these residents deserve a mental health specialist that can help them deal with these challenges. As a psych NP with Ulta Care Medical, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills and expertise to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these residents by optimizing their treatments.

Schedules are flexible and the Psych NP will work independently and remotely inside of post-acute and long-term care nursing facilities. This means that you can generally choose when you come to work and when you leave, provided that you work the number of hours that have been agreed upon. We require collaboration with nursing home staff, but ultimately you make your own schedule and have the autonomy to do what you are educated and trained to do.

• Review psychotropic medications in accordance with CMS guidelines.
• Make medication recommendations to the medical staff onsite and follow up for medication effectiveness.
• Offer guidance and instruction related to psychiatric illnesses to staff at designated facility.
• Meet monthly for onsite review from supervising psychiatrist to review charts and receive education/guidance.
• Maintain open communications with patients, families and/or responsible parties, facility staff and attending physicians.
• Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving others in the plan of care as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest level of professionalism.
• Communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment.

• PMHNP Certification.
• 2 years’ experience working in a psych focused FNP role.
