How you make a difference in this role:

This position is mission-critical to ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the Tennessee Fire Services and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA).

Job Overview:

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational effectiveness of the Academy. This role ensures that all administrative, financial, and operational functions are executed efficiently to support the Academy's mission of providing high-quality training and education for fire service and codes enforcement professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Oversight

Direct and manage daily operations of the Academy, providing strong leadership to staff while enforcing TFACA and State policies, rules, and regulations.

Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Travel statewide to attend SFMO leadership meetings as well as meet with fire departments throughout the state.

Operational Management

Ensure all administrative functions are performed accurately and on time to maintain smooth operations.

Oversee scheduling and delivery of training programs, ensure fire and codes programs are maintaining a 12-month rolling calendar, identifying course offerings Financial Stewardship Manage the Academy within its approved annual operating budget.

Monitor expenditures and implement cost-control measures to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Facilities & Equipment Direct staff activities to maintain grounds, facilities, props, and apparatus in optimal working condition.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to reduce operational disruptions.

Strategic Planning

Provide long-range planning for capital improvements to facilities and training programs.

Identify opportunities for growth and modernization to meet evolving industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelors degree in Fire Sciences, Fire Administration, or a related field is required. 5+ years of management experience is preferred.
