Job Title: CTE Agriculture Teacher

Location: Shelley High School, Shelley, Idaho

Job Type: Full-Time  School Year

Job Summary: The CTE Agriculture Teacher provides a comprehensive agricultural education program that prepares students for post-secondary education, industry certification, and direct entry into the workforce. Instruction includes classroom, laboratory, and supervised agricultural experience (SAE) components, while supporting student leadership development through FFA. The teacher promotes academic, technical, leadership, and citizenship development through hands‑on learning, industry partnerships, and classroom supervision. This position is vital for the agricultural industry and welfare for the Shelley community and should be treated as such.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and actively include up-to-date agricultural practices assigned classes and laboratory/shop experiences.
  • Design lessons with appropriate rigor that deliver agricultural content in a logical, sequential manner.
  • Provide instruction in agricultural science, agricultural mechanics, animal science, plant science, agribusiness, and related pathways as assigned.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including hands‑on lab/shop instruction, project-based learning, technology integration, and industry-relevant applications.
  • Implement Idaho Core Standards and Idaho CTE standards in lesson planning and instruction.
  • Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities.
  • Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Devise assessments that measure technical skill attainment, analytical thinking, and workforce readiness.
  • Prepare students for industry certifications, dual credit, and post‑secondary pathways.
  • Maintain and enforce safe shop, laboratory, and equipment procedures.
Qualifications
  • Valid Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate Agriculture endorsement OR
  • Ability to obtain Idaho CTE Agriculture certification through industry background and alternative authorization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural content and effective instructional practices.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and safe learning environment, including shop/lab safety.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, industry partners, and the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience advising or participating in FFA.
  • Experience supervising Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. Ability to execute and manage year‑round visits to student SAE projects.
  • Additional endorsements or certification areas (Business, Science, and/or Computer Science).
  • Experience with agricultural mechanics, welding, animal science, plant science, agribusiness, or natural resources.
  • Industry certifications relevant to agricultural education.
FFA and Leadership Development
  • Serve as advisor to the Shelley FFA chapter.
  • Organize and supervise student participation in FFA leadership events, competitions, and conferences.
  • Support and monitor Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. Must complete SAE visits to ensure stipend.
  • Develop community and industry partnerships to enhance student opportunities. Actively maintain and execute a Program of Activities as required by the National FFA Organization.
  • Promote student leadership, citizenship, and career readiness through FFA programming.
Student Support and Communication
  • Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential.
  • Establish and communicate classroom expectations and safety standards.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student academic and behavioral progress.
