About the Firm
We're a small, well-established boutique CPA firm serving a diverse base of privately held clients. Our work spans family-owned manufacturing, distribution, and retail businesses, construction, professional groups (law firms, dental groups), restaurant groups, and real estate, which is our largest niche and includes developers and commercial real estate. We do not work with publicly traded companies or government entities. Alongside our tax practice, we run a dedicated audit department focused on 401(k) audits.
What sets us apart is the culture. We're genuinely laid back, we value our people, and we've built a practice where the workload is spread evenly across the year rather than crammed into a few brutal months. To give you a sense of what that means in practice: last year, even through the 9/15 and 10/15 deadlines, nobody was working weekends.
It never gets crazy here.
We're looking for a high-level tax professional (Tax Manager or Director) to take on primarily review work, with a little preparation mixed in. Right now our bottleneck is at the partner level, where reviews and returns are stacking up, and we need an experienced hand to relieve that pressure.
This is a client-facing, hands‑on role for someone who's confident reviewing returns across a wide variety of small and medium-sized businesses and their owners.
Responsibilities- Review individual and business tax returns across a diverse client base
- Handle a limited amount of return preparation
- Serve as a senior technical resource and help move work through the pipeline
- Work directly with partners and clients
- Base salary of $150,000-$200,000 plus bonus
- Profit sharing
- 401(k) with match
- Very strong work/life balance, with workload distributed across the full year and staff at roughly 50 hours per week during busy season (no weekends)
- A flexible hybrid schedule we're happy to work out for the right person
An experienced tax professional who's ready to operate at the review level and thrive in a collegial, low-pressure environment. We value technical strength, good judgment, and people who fit our culture.
Interview ProcessYou’ll interview with two partners and our audit principal. We're a small team, so this is a chance for both sides to make sure it's a great fit.
We're looking to hire soon. This is one opening today, with the possibility of additional tax hires later in the year.
