This is a full-time role at Budderfly, located in Shelton, CT, with a hybrid schedule. Budderfly is a fast-growth energy management outsourcing company, committed to reducing global carbon emissions for businesses with repeatable footprints. This Financial Analyst position is essential for supporting the Controller in accounting operations and ensuring an exceptional experience for our customers. The role is critical for protecting project margins by identifying billing discrepancies, recovering costs, and validating installation expenses.

Reports to the Controller - Mission:
Identifies billing discrepancies, recovers costs, validates installation expenses, and ensures vendor agreement compliance to protect project margins across projects. - Tech Stack:
Net Suite, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Invoice Management:
Review, reconcile, audit, and assign GL codes to project and subcontractor invoices, ensuring mathematical accuracy, proper documentation, and appropriate tax allocation. - Contract Compliance & Cost Control:
Investigate cost variances and analyze charges (labor, equipment, freight, materials) to ensure proper support and strict adherence to negotiated contract terms. - Project Financial Monitoring:
Monitor budget versus actuals to identify cost overruns, assist project managers in maintaining detailed project cost reports, and update cash flow projections. - Cross-Functional Dispute Resolution:
Liaise with operations and project managers to review financial performance, support economic improvements, and resolve billing discrepancies with vendors and subcontractors. - Performance Reporting:
Maintain reports on contractor disputes, warranty recoveries, and project cost variances, while assisting leadership with ad hoc analysis for margin improvement initiatives.
- Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field. - Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, construction finance, project controls, contract administration, procurement, or cost analysis. - Skills:
High level of independent work ethics and integrity, excellent analytical and communication skills, accounting knowledge (US GAAP), and the ability to work with multiple entities. - Bonus:
Industry knowledge of construction and service is preferred.
