Position: Staff Accountant, Fixed Assets

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant, Fixed Assets will support the North America (NA) Controllership team by performing essential fixed asset accounting activities and helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s fixed asset records. This role supports accounting for capital asset additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, construction-in-progress (CIP), fixed asset reconciliations, and related journal entries in accordance with company policies and US GAAP.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with colleagues, Operations Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Tax, Treasury, IT, and the Global Business Services (GBS) team to ensure fixed asset activity is recorded timely, properly supported, and aligned with internal controls. This position requires strong attention to detail, solid Excel skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Accountabilities
  • Prepare and post fixed asset-related journal entries in compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
  • Perform monthly fixed asset account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on time.
  • Support accounting for capital asset additions, disposals, transfers, retirements, depreciation, and other fixed asset activity.
  • Assist with construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking, including reviewing project activity and supporting timely placement of assets into service.
  • Work with Operations Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and project owners to obtain support for capital projects and fixed asset transactions.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to fixed assets, depreciation, and capital spending.
  • Maintain fixed asset master data and help ensure asset records are complete, accurate, and aligned across relevant systems.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing timely and accurate documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements for assigned fixed asset activities.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and process improvement efforts to enhance fixed asset accounting efficiency, documentation, and reporting accuracy.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP, including basic fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and related accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and summarize findings clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Tax, Treasury, IT, and Global Business Services.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage assigned priorities and meet close deadlines.
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with a U.S. publicly listed company is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP S/4

    HANA, Black Line, Hyperion/HFM, or similar ERP and financial reporting systems is a plus.
  • Experience with fixed asset subledger accounting, asset master data, CIP tracking, depreciation, and capital project accounting is a plus.
  • Experience supporting SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit documentation.
  • Prior consumer packaged goods or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be organized, prioritize tasks, and follow through on assigned items.
