Commercial Construction Superintendent

Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 per year.

Job Details

We are a design‑build firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and commercial construction. Our loyal clients include auto dealerships, non‑profit organizations, healthcare, recreation, manufacturing, distribution, and industrial sectors. We pride ourselves on strong client relationships and delivering quality construction.

We are looking for a Project Superintendent with 5‑10 years of experience to be responsible for daily on‑site planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, communication, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards on one or more projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify hazards immediately.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors adhere to the company safety policy.
  • Complete and document job site safety inspections, addressing violations promptly.
  • Oversee implementation of the Company Health & Safety Plan for all personnel.
  • Conduct safety meetings at each job site on a regular basis.
  • Maintain weekly construction schedule, identify and solve problems.
  • Order materials, schedule inspections, and maintain an updated project schedule.
  • Prepare a three‑week project forecast covering material orders, equipment requisition, and subcontractor scheduling.
  • Responsible for erecting job signs and maintaining an organized job site, including the construction office.
  • Direct field personnel to complete project on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy, financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems before they become major issues.
  • Understand contractual obligations and comply with all company policies.
  • Verify that subcontractors have proper licenses, insurance, and up‑to‑date Labor & Industries payments.
  • Submit timecards to Office Manager monthly.
  • Prepare and send weekly project updates to owners, Project Manager, and President.
  • Work with Project Manager to identify constructability or scope issues during pre‑construction.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
  • Communicate with company personnel and subcontractors to ensure understanding of scope and problem areas.
  • Report daily to the Project Manager on occurrences affecting project success.
  • Review RFIs continuously and identify issues affecting the project.
  • Propose actions to resolve issues and inform the President of major problems.
  • Participate in scope, buy‑out, and schedule final review.
  • Research and address owner, landlord, city/state requirements to avoid delays.
  • Maintain open dialogue with the project team regarding changes, conditions, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly.
  • Actively participate in company training, mentor assistant superintendent, labor, and carpentry staff.
  • Prepare, schedule, and supervise completion of final punch list.
  • Assist in preparing the project close‑out manual and plans.
  • Ensure project close‑out meets client expectations.
