Inspector
Job Description
This role focuses on performing construction inspections for a sewer line replacement project and accurately documenting all findings in an electronic tracking system. The inspector works closely with a Senior Consultant who provides guidance and support throughout the inspection process. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a state-funded infrastructure project and to grow into future roles on other projects or within the land surveying department after the project's completion.
Responsibilities
+ Perform detailed construction inspections for a sewer line replacement project, ensuring work complies with project specifications and applicable standards.
+ Conduct construction observation activities on-site, monitoring contractor activities and documenting progress and conditions.
+ Document inspection results thoroughly and accurately in the electronic tracking system, maintaining clear and organized records.
+ Collaborate closely with a Senior Consultant during inspections, following guidance and escalating issues or concerns as needed.
+ Verify that sewer line replacement work is completed according to design plans and quality requirements.
+ Use MS Office Suite applications to prepare inspection reports, track data, and communicate findings.
+ Travel to and from job sites using reliable transportation and maintain punctuality for scheduled inspections.
+ Communicate professionally with project team members, providing clear updates on inspection status and any observed issues.
Essential Skills
+ At least 1 year of experience in construction or engineering, with exposure to field work or project sites.
+
Experience with construction inspection, construction observation, or sewer line replacement projects.
+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications for documentation, reporting, and data tracking.
+ Ability to perform inspections and observations in an outdoor construction environment.
+ Reliable means of transportation, such as owning a car, to travel to and from project sites.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document findings in an electronic tracking system.
+ Effective communication skills to work closely with a Senior Consultant and project team members.

+ Background in construction, engineering, or a related technical field.
+ Familiarity with sewer line systems and underground utility construction practices.
+ Comfort with using electronic tools and software for tracking and reporting inspection data.
+ Interest in developing a long-term career in construction inspection, engineering support, or land surveying.
+ Ability to adapt to changing project needs and transition to new projects or departments upon project completion.
Work Environment
This position is based primarily in the field on a sewer line replacement project, working around active construction sites and outdoor conditions. The role involves regular travel to project locations, so reliable personal transportation is required. Work is supported by a Consultant, providing a collaborative environment with mentorship and guidance. The project is state funded, offering stability and the potential for long-term opportunities, including moving on to other projects or into a land surveying department after approximately one year.
Daily work includes using MS Office Suite and an electronic tracking system to record and report inspection results. Mileage reimbursement is provided at a competitive per-mile rate, helping to offset travel costs and making field work more sustainable.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelton, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $30.00/hr.
