Chief Construction Inspector (Construction)

As a Chief Construction Inspector, you will play a critical leadership role overseeing transportation infrastructure construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, coordinating inspection staff, and serving as the primary field representative between contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead construction inspection activities on roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Manage and supervise inspection staff, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between GPI, contractors, and Connecticut DOT representatives.
  • Ensure construction work complies with plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Review and approve daily inspection reports, material certifications, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project schedules, quantities, change orders, and pay estimates.
  • Coordinate field testing and quality assurance activities.
  • Conduct project meetings and communicate project status to clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues while maintaining project progress and quality.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and support staff development.
What You'll Bring:

Minimum 8 years of construction inspection experience on transportation infrastructure projects.

One of the following credentials is required:

  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • NICET Level IV Certification
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Experience working on Connecticut DOT, municipal, or other public agency projects preferred.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and contract administration.

Experience reviewing contractor schedules, pay estimates, RFIs, and change orders.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
