We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a PE license and experience in Forensic Investigation to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position in the forensic engineering industry where you will play a critical role in incident investigation and analysis. The role requires technical expertise, analytical thinking, and strong communication abilities. You will conduct detailed forensic investigations, primarily vehicle accidents, applying engineering principles to help clients resolve losses and litigation matters.
Candidates must be comfortable with occasional day or overnight travel to accident sites. This role suits motivated self‑starters who prefer independent work over desk‑bound routines and don’t mind outdoor fieldwork.
- Conduct comprehensive forensic investigations into mechanical failures, vehicular incidents, and fire‑related incidents in the construction industry.
- Utilize materials science expertise to analyze and understand causes of incidents and failures.
- Prepare detailed, accurate reports for legal proceedings and insurance claims.
- Serve as an expert witness in court proceedings, providing clear explanations of complex technical issues to non‑technical audiences.
- Collaborate with professionals to develop preventative measures and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior forensic investigation team members.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in forensic engineering and materials science.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required;
Master’s preferred. - Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably mechanical, structural forensic or investigative engineering.
- PE licensure.
- Proven experience in incident investigation and analysis, especially in vehicle accident reconstruction, water loss origin, workplace safety, and/or product liability.
- In‑depth knowledge of materials science and its application in forensic investigation.
- Previous experience as expert witness in legal proceedings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard forensic analysis tools and software.
- ACTAR certification or equivalent for vehicle incident reconstruction highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and detail orientation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple investigations.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to relevant industry regulations and standards.
