Certified Welding Inspector; CWI

GPI is seeking a detail-oriented construction engineering and inspection professional to support transportation projects in Connecticut. The role involves field-based inspection of bridge steel components, focusing on repair, rehabilitation, and welding inspection.

• Perform visual inspections of structural welds on steel bridge components to verify compliance with specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Review, interpret, and apply welding procedures, inspection criteria, and applicable regulations.
• Identify welding defects, nonconformances, and quality concerns; communicate findings clearly and professionally.
• Verify corrective actions and ensure issues are resolved per project and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and reports according to GPI and client standards.
• Collaborate effectively with contractors, project teams, and clients while maintaining professional relationships.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and compliance in the field.

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or equivalent (CPWI) is required.
• NICET Level 1, 2, or 3, EIT/PE, or a CCM from CMAA.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in field environments and addressing challenges in real time.
• Advanced or additional welding inspection certifications.
• Prior experience supporting transportation infrastructure projects.
