We are seeking a Bridge Design Engineer with 5-15 years of experience to join our growing team in Shelton, CT.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, including the design and rehabilitation of bridges for state and local agencies. Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridge and transportation structures
- Prepare preliminary and final design plans, calculations, and specifications
- Develop cost estimates and assist with contract document preparation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support project delivery
- Participate in client meetings and support project communication
- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (AASHTO, CTDOT guidelines)
- Ability to work independently
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 5-15 years of bridge/structural design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in CT (or ability to obtain) preferred
- Experience preparing bridge design plans and calculations
- Familiarity with AASHTO and state CTDOT standards
- Experience with structural analysis and design software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Load Ratings Experience a plus
- New Jersey PE license a plus
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
