Job DescriptionThis role focuses on conducting detailed inspections inside unoccupied buildings to identify lead water pipes and accurately document findings in an electronic tracking system. You will collaborate closely with a Senior Consultant, gain exposure to a state‑founded project, and have the opportunity to move into future projects or related departments upon successful completion of this assignment.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough inspections inside unoccupied buildings to identify and verify the presence of lead water pipes.
- Document all inspection findings clearly and accurately in the designated electronic tracking system.
- Follow established inspection procedures and quality standards to ensure consistent and reliable results.
- Coordinate and work closely with a Senior Consultant to plan, conduct, and review inspections.
- Use basic office software tools to prepare, update, and maintain inspection records and reports.
- Communicate inspection outcomes and any concerns promptly to the project team.
- Travel between assigned locations using reliable personal transportation and manage routes efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, project protocols, and regulatory requirements during inspections.
- Proven experience performing inspections in a professional or technical setting.
- Background in construction or engineering, with an understanding of building systems and infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience with quality inspection or lead inspections, or similar field‑based inspection work.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
- Ability to accurately record, track, and organize inspection data in electronic systems.
- Reliable means of transportation, such as owning a car, to travel to inspection sites.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured procedures and guidelines.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with a Senior Consultant and project team members.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with inspection practices related to building utilities, plumbing, or water systems.
- Experience working on state‑funded or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
- Interest in advancing into future projects or transitioning into related areas such as land surveying.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining regular communication with the team.
- Comfort using electronic tracking systems or databases to manage inspection information.
This position is field‑based and involves traveling to and working inside unoccupied buildings to conduct inspections. You will spend a significant portion of your time on‑site, moving between locations using your own reliable transportation, with mileage reimbursement provided at a competitive rate per mile. The project is state funded, offering a stable and secure work environment with the potential to transition to other projects or into areas such as land surveying after approximately one year.
You will use standard office software, including MS Office Suite, and an electronic tracking system to record and manage inspection data. Work is performed in a professional setting that emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and collaboration with a Senior Consultant and broader project team.
Permanent position based out of Shelton, CT.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 – $24.00 per hour.
