What You'll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our
Transportation and Traffic Design Team
, an Entry Level Staff Engineer
will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:

  • Perform traffic analysis and modeling using tools such as Synchro and Sim Traffic
  • Assist in the development of traffic signal timing plans and intersection improvement concepts
  • Support the preparation of traffic engineering plans, cost estimates, and design documentation
  • Review and analyzing traffic data including volumes, crash history, and speed studies
  • Help draft technical memoranda, traffic studies, and feasibility reports for state and municipal clients
  • Assist with permit documentation such as CTDOT encroachment permits and Traffic Management Plans
  • Participate in field investigations and site visits to observe traffic operations and gather project data
  • Collaborate with roadway, drainage, structural, and environmental teams to support integrated designs

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Passed your FE Exam and obtained your EIT certification, or planning to by June 2027
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, or similar
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and curiosity about real-world design challenges
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • Exposure to Complete Streets or multimodal planning principles
  • Familiarity with CTDOT or MassDOT and/or municipal traffic design standards
  • Experience with traffic studies, permitting, or data collection through academic or internship projects
  • Interest in obtaining a PE license and engaging in professional development
