Entry Level Staff Engineer – Traffic Design

• Perform traffic analysis and modeling using tools such as Synchro and Sim Traffic
• Assist in developing traffic signal timing plans and intersection improvement concepts
• Support preparation of traffic engineering plans, cost estimates, and design documentation
• Review and analyze traffic data, including volumes, crash history, and speed studies
• Help draft technical memoranda, traffic studies, and feasibility reports for state and municipal clients
• Assist with permit documentation such as CTDOT encroachment permits and Traffic Management Plans
• Participate in field investigations and site visits to observe traffic operations and gather project data
• Collaborate with roadway, drainage, structural, and environmental teams to support integrated designs

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Passed the FE Exam and obtained EIT certification, or planning to by June 2027
• Familiarity with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, or similar
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and curiosity about real-world design challenges
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment
• Preferred:
  Master’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
• Preferred:
  Exposure to Complete Streets or multimodal planning principles
• Preferred:
  Familiarity with CTDOT or MassDOT and/or municipal traffic design standards
• Preferred:
  Experience with traffic studies, permitting, or data collection through academic or internship projects
• Preferred:
  Interest in obtaining a PE license and engaging in professional development

Demonstrates expertise in traffic analysis and modeling, utilizing tools such as Synchro and Sim Traffic. Proficient in developing traffic signal timing plans and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance traffic engineering designs.
