Assistant Patient Care Technician – Pediatrics

Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Open all rooms – ensure rooms are neat, clean & stocked, plug in otoscopes, rinse earpieces, and turn on computers.
- Ensure that all exam rooms are neat, clean, and properly stocked with supplies and forms at beginning and end of day.
- Clean rooms (PRN & at close of day), disinfect exam tables and countertops as per protocol.
- Room patients & complete all intakes for patients.
- Intake acutes: document chief complaint, HPI, ROS, PFSH, allergies, medications & vitals (including but not limited to blood pressure, weight, height, etc.) in EHR and prepare patient prior to examination.
- Intakes physical: document chief complaint, vitals (including but not limited to blood pressure, weight, height, etc.), allergies and additional information as per provider, review chart for immunizations, blood work (hgb, cholesterol), hearing and vision and prepare patient prior to examination by the physician.
- Obtain Xray orders and results.
- Complete supply orders.
- Maintain and record daily lab controls & refrigerator/ freezer temps.
- Check oxygen tanks weekly.
- Develops, implements, and maintains control reports for quality assurance.
- Arrange appointments to specialists and follow up tests as needed.
- Sterilize equipment per proper sterilization protocols.
- Monitor expiration dates on all medicines/ medical supplies in office.
- Unpack and stock supplies and vaccines in a timely manner.
- Unpack and restock supplies in closets and exam rooms.
- Flush Eye Wash Station weekly as per protocol and log.
- Run autoclave control as per manufacturer’s instructions.
- Notify lab of specimen pick‑up per specific location.
- Sort and complete school/ sport/ medical forms, lab requisitions and State Disease Reporting forms as needed.
- Perform lab counter disinfection as per protocol and log.
- Change Sharp’s Containers as needed.
- Complete CIRTS requests from State.
- Review and complete open orders.
- Perform various in‑office testing, such as vision, hearing, and others.
- Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA Regulations.
- Keep work areas clean and orderly.
- Help answer phones to clinical area.
- Complies with all PHA policies and procedures.
- Regular and prompt attendance is expected and required.
- All other duties as required or assigned.
Position Requirements:
- High School degree or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting (preferably in pediatrics) is preferred.
- Computer skills are required (working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred).
- Knowledge of EHR software is preferred.
