Sr UX Technical Writer

Shift Information

• Monday-Friday, Hybrid position! 3 Days onsite/2 days remote.
• Pay range starts at $50+/hr!
• 6+ Month contract to start! This is a W2 Contract (No 1099/C2C), with a possibility of extension or conversion beyond the original duration based on performance & budget at that time.

Seeking a Senior Technical Content Designer / Technical Writer with strong experience creating web-based online help documentation for complex technical products. This role will focus heavily on Mad Cap Flare, HTML/XML authoring, and modular single-sourced documentation. The ideal candidate has experience working in life sciences, laboratory instrumentation, engineering, or biotech environments, and can develop structured content optimized for modern digital and AI-supported help experiences.

• Design and develop customer-facing online help / web help content for complex laboratory and scientific systems
• Create modular documentation using single-source content strategies and reusable content components
• Develop content using Mad Cap Flare and related publishing tools
• Author and edit structured content using HTML, XML, and web-based documentation formats
• Apply UI/UX principles and user learning concepts to improve content usability
• Embed multimedia elements such as screenshots, graphics, video, or interactive media into help content
• Work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams throughout the documentation lifecycle
• Use Jira daily to track work assignments, manage documentation tasks, and support release timelines
• Improve documentation based on user feedback, analytics, and iterative content updates
• Support content optimized for AI chatbot readiness, including structured formatting, metadata, and tagging

• 7–10+ years of experience in technical writing, technical communication, or technical content design
• Strong proficiency in Mad Cap Flare (mid-to-expert level)
• Experience creating web-based help systems / online help / knowledge base documentation
• Proficiency in HTML and XML authoring (DITA experience a plus)
• Experience creating modular, single-sourced documentation (content reuse, structured authoring, CCMS concepts)
• Experience using Jira (daily use strongly preferred)
• Background supporting complex technical products (engineering systems, lab instruments, scientific equipment, software/hardware)

• Experience creating documentation specifically for an AI chatbot or AI-driven customer help experience
• Experience with structured metadata, tagging, taxonomy, or SEO-style content structuring
• Strong UI/UX-focused documentation design experience
• Multimedia integration experience (video, animations, interactive content)
• Experience in life sciences, biotech, medical device, pharmaceutical, or engineering environments
