Job Summary

The Production Control Manager is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity as well as managing inventory levels.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, monitoring, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures.
  • Supervising and providing guidance to ensure all tasks, projects and deadlines are met.
  • Determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow by issuing written and oral instructions to staff.
  • Working with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitoring and advising on progress to enhance professional development.
Operations
  • Acting on MPS (Master Production Scheduler) forecast, order releases and exception messages.
  • Planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize productive capacity.
  • Analyzing MPS forecast data and sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Managing inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items to meet production schedules.
  • Creating and analyzing monthly sales history relative to budget forecast to identify trends and potential impact on production and customer needs.
  • Preparing, entering and following up on purchase orders for required materials, communicating with vendors and expediting as necessary.
  • Responsibility for the inventory levels of Finished Goods and Raw Material to meet service requirements.
  • Communicating with Sales, Distribution, Warehouse and Production Departments to coordinate scheduling changes.
  • Creating, maintaining and updating spreadsheets or system information as needed.
  • Building, correcting and updating BOMs in the TMM system.
  • Mastering TMM and MPS and all applicable systems.
  • Knowledge of all plants’ capacity planning spreadsheets.
  • Working with the Central Planning Manager and Manufacturing to create and maintain a database tracking actual vs. predicted sales on new items.
  • Ensuring compliance with governmental regulatory requirements and promoting affirmative action compliance.
  • Working closely with the Stores Clerk and Warehouse Supervisor regarding raw materials and semi‑finished goods.
Safety
  • Complying with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions or practices to superiors to ensure prompt hazard resolution.
  • Attending scheduled EH&S training programs.
  • Actively supporting the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
  • Recommending improved EH&S practices.
  • Practicing safe work habits and following general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, equipment use, and personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Ensuring lockout procedures are followed whenever equipment is cleaned or maintained.
Product Safety and Quality
  • Following Product Safety and Quality standards.
  • Following GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to employees.
  • Following IPC product defense standards and complying with all SQF requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in production scheduling and planning. Preferred:
    Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
  • Strong personal computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, database programming) and strong analytical ability; APICS experience preferred; ability to interact with various groups or people.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, purchase orders, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; clear speech and excellent phone manner.
