Production Operator III
Location: Shelton, CT
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Various Shifts Available
Our client is seeking an experienced Production Operator III to support our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for candidates with manufacturing experience who enjoy operating equipment, troubleshooting production issues, training team members, and ensuring quality standards are met.
As a Production Operator III, you will play a key role in producing high-quality food packaging products while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities Production & Machine Operation- Operate thermoforming, automation, and auxiliary equipment including grinders, stackers, and case tapers.
- Monitor production processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and productivity goals are achieved.
- Inspect in-process and finished products against quality standards and specifications.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues related to quality and performance.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance, cavity changes, and equipment adjustments.
- Complete required production documentation and administrative tasks.
- Maintain compliance with line clearance, raw material verification, in-process inspections, and housekeeping standards.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Assist supervisors in identifying training needs and supporting employee development.
- Help train and mentor team members on equipment operation, quality standards, and production procedures.
- Follow all product safety, food safety, GMP, SQF, and quality requirements.
- Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
- Utilize proper PPE and safe work practices.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures during equipment maintenance and cleaning.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Manufacturing, production, or quality inspection experience preferred.
- Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Digital force gauges
- Pressure gauges
- Temperature thermocouples
- Protractors
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience operating thermoforming or automated manufacturing equipment.
- Forklift experience or certification.
- Experience training or mentoring employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours).
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, machinery, dust, and vibration.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
