Mechanical Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and improves complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems in a semiconductor cleanroom environment. This role supports manufacturing operations, pilot builds, process improvements, quality initiatives, and the transition of new products into production.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, wire, inspect, test, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems according to specifications and procedures.
  • Ensure products meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using blueprints, schematics, and test equipment.
  • Support production from assembly through final test while ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Participate in pilot builds and support new product introductions into volume production.
  • Contribute to process, product, and documentation improvements through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining technical documentation, records, and work instructions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for team members and share knowledge across the organization.
  • Coordinate assigned production activities and manage priorities to meet schedules.
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and process optimization efforts.
  • Maintain proper use of tools, materials, and equipment while adhering to cleanroom standards.

Required Skills:

  • Experience assembling and testing mechanical or electro-mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, test equipment, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and follow detailed procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and production systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Manufacturing internship, co-op, or hands-on technical experience.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement programs.
  • Semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, or prototype/pilot build experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom and follows a compressed 12-hour shift schedule (days or nights).
  • New hires complete approximately two weeks of training on a Monday-Friday schedule before transitioning to their assigned shift.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
