We are urgently seeking Maintenance / Industrial Mechanics to join a growing manufacturing and machining operation in Shelton, CT. This is a hands‑on mechanical maintenance position focused primarily on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production machinery. The most important experience is a strong mechanical background with knowledge of presses/stamping equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, grinding equipment, and industrial machinery. This is not a PLC‑focused position.
PLC or electrical experience is a plus and will make someone more versatile, but the primary need is someone who can troubleshoot and repair equipment mechanically.
The company is hiring 2–3 mechanics due to significant projected growth over the next 6–10 months, an employee relocating, and a longtime employee transitioning toward retirement.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair manufacturing and production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the appropriate repairs.
- Maintain and repair presses and stamping equipment.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and repair grinding and machining equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
- Repair and replace bearings, motors, mechanical components, and related equipment.
- Perform general machine and facility mechanical repairs.
- Work with production personnel to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
- Follow established safety and maintenance procedures.
Candidates do not need to have every skill listed below. The company will consider different experience levels based on overall mechanical ability.
Preferred experience includes:
- Industrial or manufacturing maintenance
- Presses and stamping equipment
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Grinding equipment
- Industrial machinery
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair
- Preventive maintenance
- Manufacturing or machining environments
- Manual lathe or mill experience
- Surface grinders
- Welding and torch work
- PLC troubleshooting or electrical experience is a plus but is not required.
- Automotive mechanics with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills may also be considered, although direct industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience is preferred.
Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM. Fridays vary depending on workload and completion of the weekly task list. Friday hours are typically overtime when scheduled. Overtime may be voluntary or mandatory depending on production needs. There is no emergency on‑call rotation for off‑hour breakdowns.
Compensation$25–$38/hr., depending on skills and experience. Candidates with limited industrial experience but strong mechanical ability may start around $25/hr compensation increases based on experience with industrial maintenance, presses/stamping equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, machining equipment, and related skills.
