Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Pediatrics

Pediatric Healthcare Associates is an independent pediatric group providing patient-centered, evidence-based, quality care for our patients, from infancy through young adulthood, through compassion, collaboration, and open communication with their families and our community.

Overall Responsibility

Pediatric Healthcare Associates is seeking a Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. We're looking for someone who has demonstrated excellent patient and family-centered care, is a team player and has a strong work ethic. The Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is primarily responsible for providing safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients from infancy through young adulthood, as well as other duties as assigned.

The full-time position requires working 30 to 37.5 hours per week (day shifts, evenings, one weekend per month and holidays as needed - shift differentials are offered for working evenings, weekends and holidays).

Essential Skills & Abilities
  • Process X-Ray orders.
  • Process prescription refills faxed from pharmacies and monitor office prescription refill line.
  • Perform checks for crash cart monthly.
  • Complete DCF forms.
  • Read, record, and process all cultures.
  • Monitor clinician’s schedules and bring areas of concern to a manager.
  • Monitor and complete Tasks for all offices in EHR.
  • Scribe with clinicians (unless not requested).
  • Review and prioritize phone and task messages for physicians.
  • Answer patients’ questions and respond to requests.
  • Dress wounds, give injections, and provide immunizations.
  • Educate patients on asthma medications & equipment, Epi pen, treatments, etc.
  • Review charts when needed for transfers, medication requests, etc.
  • Reorder vaccines, medicine, or oxygen when necessary.
  • VCF ordering and supply monitoring.
  • Conduct lab tests and procedures.
  • Triage.
  • Monitor injection list.
  • Responsible for reviewing/responding to all communications via PHA email, Elevate, task etc.
Requirements
  • All other duties as required or assigned.
  • Graduated from an accredited LPN program with a current license in good standing in the State of Connecticut.
  • Previous Nursing experience (preferably in pediatrics)
  • EHR Experience
  • Experience administering injections
  • Anatomy knowledge
  • Medication administration
