We are seeking a hands‑on Quality Assurance Manager to lead and manage the Quality Department for a growing metal fabrication and manufacturing company. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and improving quality systems, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 standards, and serving as the primary point of contact for all quality‑related matters.
This is a key leadership position for a quality professional who enjoys being actively involved in manufacturing operations, customer interactions, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives within a metal fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary customer point of contact for all quality‑related matters
- Coordinate and lead customer audits and quality system reviews
- Manage customer returns, quality concerns, and corrective action activities
- Generate and oversee 8D Reports, SCARs, RCCAs, CAPAs, 5‑Why analyses, and Fishbone investigations
- Manage, track, and verify completion of internal and customer corrective actions
- Lead and supervise the Quality Department, including 2‑4 Quality Inspectors
- Oversee incoming, in‑process, and final inspections
- Collaborate with leadership to establish quality goals, standards, and performance metrics
- Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems in compliance with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015
- Develop and implement quality procedures, standards, and best practices
- Conduct quality system awareness and compliance training for employees
- Perform inspections as needed, including incoming, in‑process, and final product inspections
- Investigate nonconforming products and lead root cause analysis activities
- Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure calibration systems and inspection equipment are properly maintained
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred
- Associate’s Degree with equivalent experience and training considered
- Minimum 5+ years of Quality Management or Quality Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing Quality personnel
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
- Experience managing customer audits and customer quality requirements
- Hands‑on experience with supplier quality activities, including SCARs and 8D reporting
- Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis methodologies including 5‑Why and Fishbone techniques
- Experience developing, implementing, and verifying corrective actions
- Metal fabrication, machining, welding, or heavy manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Experience inspecting machined, fabricated, welded, painted, powder‑coated, and assembled products
- Proficient with inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, tape measures, and related equipment
- Experience using CMM equipment; FARO Arm experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of gauge calibration systems and calibration program management
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
- Hands‑on leader who enjoys being involved on the manufacturing floor
- Strong communicator with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to quality improvement
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality standards
- Focused on accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Fast‑paced metal fabrication and manufacturing environment
- Diverse manufacturing processes including machining, welding, structural fabrication, finishing, coating, and mechanical assembly
